Overview of the Growing Infrastructure Course
Infrastructure Asia (InfraAsia), World Bank Group (WBG) and Singapore Management University (SMU) have joined hands to develop a bespoke course that builds leadership capabilities within the infrastructure sector across the region. Titled “Growing Infrastructure – Enabling & Structuring for Private Sector Participation in Finance and Innovation”, this course was co-designed by all three organisations and will be delivered by SMU in partnership with InfraAsia.

The theme for this run of Growing Infrastructure is “Clean Energy”.

Programme Overview:

Clean Energy for Public/Private Sector Leaders in the Infrastructure Domain

In light of rising energy demand, continued reliance on fossil fuels, growing energy inequities, and escalating climate pressures, this executive education programme equips ASEAN and South Asian executives with the strategies needed to transition towards resilient, affordable, low-carbon, and inclusive clean energy systems.

This run will examine clean energy through the lens of renewable energy while placing additional emphasis on enabling infrastructure required for energy transition, such as electricity grids, battery storage, and broader energy transition solutions.

This course was co-designed by SMU, Infrastructure Asia and the World Bank Group; and it will be delivered by SMU in partnership with Infrastructure Asia. The programme is designed to empower city leaders and policymakers to accelerate the transition towards clean, reliable, and affordable energy systems by addressing policy, financing, and implementation challenges.

Programme Highlights

Offers policy and leadership training specifically designed for leaders from the emerging and developing economies across Asia.
Targeting 40 executives, primarily from the public sector along with a select number from the private sector involved in Clean Energy projects, this programme aims to enhance their knowledge and skills in the analysis, planning, and implementation of progressive clean energy policies, programmes, and projects.
Participants will also strengthen their individual leadership skills, enabling them to navigate the politically and institutionally complex clean energy policies of their cities.
Delivered as an in-person programme in the vibrant city of Singapore, which is advancing clean energy through the Singapore Green Plan 2030.
This executive programme facilitates networking with thought leaders, government officials, practitioners, and leading academics. This unique gathering will encourage the exchange of experiences, foster the development of innovative clean energy strategies, and empower participants to enhance their leadership, problem-solving, and execution skills.

Who Should Attend
Senior and mid-level decision makers and policymakers engaged in the infrastructure sector, from South and Southeast Asia. For this upcoming run, we are inviting professionals from both the private and public sector working on the value chain of Clean Energy Infrastructure Projects to apply.

The participant must be

fluent in written and spoken English,
responsible (or would be responsible) for managing and structuring Clean Energy infrastructure projects,
have experience in managing and mitigating project risks (e.g. legal, technical, commercial, construction risks), and
have a basic understanding of public–private partnership (PPP) and project finance.

Note (Selection Criteria):
All registered public sector participants will go through a selection process by Infrastructure Asia before receiving confirmation to attend the course as a sponsored candidate by Infrastructure Asia. Application to the course does not constitute a guaranteed admission.

Private sector participants will go through a selection process by Singapore Management University before receiving confirmation to attend the course. Application to the course does not constitute a guaranteed admission.

Project Description & Submission

Please provide an overview of your organisation’s pipeline for infrastructure projects, including challenges in financing and innovative models being considered (at least 50 words).*
How do you and your team play a part in the infrastructure projects (between 100-150 words)?*
Participants are required to share relevant clean energy project(s) that they are responsible for. The project(s) should be ongoing, preferably at an early stage of development (e.g. feasibility study), with tenders expected to be launched within the next one to two years. Please download and fill up the Project Template here before starting the registration process. You would be asked to present these projects in detail during the course. Once completed, please upload the completed form during registration. In the project description, please highlight any financing aspects or requirements.*

Withdrawal from the programme after registration will affect chances of successful application for future courses, both for the individual and potentially his/her colleagues from the same organisation. Replacement of participants/ swapping of places has to be approved by InfraAsia and Singapore Management University in writing and the notice period is at least two week before the course commences.

SMU and the Unit, and Infrastructure Asia may use some or all of these images in its print publications, digital, social media platforms and/or marketing channels.
